Dynamic Analyisis on a steam vent line.....when to do it?

Dynamic Analyisis on a steam vent line.....when to do it?

Dynamic Analyisis on a steam vent line.....when to do it?

(OP)
Hi!

I have a boiler that has a superheater. After this superheater, there is a pipe line that goes for a X process. Before that, there is a branch for a vent line. The total lenght of this branch is like 3 meters. This Brand has the following components:
1.- 6"Ø Pipe
2.- 1 Gate Valve 6"Ø Manual
3.- 1 Globe Valve 6"Ø Manual
4.- 6"Ø Pipe
5.- Silencer

It is supposed that this vent line will only work when boiler be stopped for some reason. As an automatic shut off valve or other automatic valve is not being considered, we are performing a flexible analyisis NOT A DYNAMIC ANALYSIS.

THE REASON IS BECAUSE THE VALVES (point 2 and 3) USED ARE MANUAL AND NOT AUTOMATIC, SO THE OPENING OF THE VALVE WILL BE SLOW AND NOT FAST. But my client follows asking me for this anaylisis but I think it is not applicable.

The question is when to use a dynamic anaylisis on a pipe with valves. The fluid is STEAM @ 420 psig / 650°F. The flow is 89000 lb/h constant. I have to notice that for vent purposes, the handled flow would not be the complete 89000 lb/h constantly. It would be just the steam closed between another valve after and in the superheater. Is there a code where asks me for a dynamic anaylisis when using manual valves like gates or globes?

Hope you can help me

Roland
