Actual radial distance between hubs & Bolts

(OP)
Dear All,

Will you please clarify about utube gasketed heat exchanger coming to the minimum radial distance between hub and bolts value is taken from Tema ( 9-21) for example the value is 20.637 for nominal diameter of bolt size 12.7 mm ( 0.5”).Then how to calculate Actual Radial distance between hubs and bolts.

Bolting Information for TEMA Imperial Thread Series (Non Mandatory):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minimum Actual Maximum
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bolt Area, mm^2 1019.242 4552.249
Radial distance bet. hub and bolts 20.637 35.719
Radial distance bet. bolts and the edge 15.875 15.875
Circumferential spacing between bolts 31.750 31.777 86.785
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please do needful,

Thanks & Regards,

Satya.

RE: Actual radial distance between hubs & Bolts

satyamech9, look at the picture. Radial distance = 1/2 ( bolt circle - hub OD ).

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
