Problem changing fonts in UG - solved

Problem changing fonts in UG - solved

Problem changing fonts in UG - solved

(OP)
I tried to respond to someone else who had a mysterious problem like the one I just dealt with., but the thread was closed. So I figure I'll share this way.

I had a new drawing layout & for some reason I was not being allowed to change a font to mdcsolid. I've had this happen now & then before, but it seemed a bit random. This time, I decided to try to fix it. What worked was going to Utilities, Part cleanup, & deleting all unused fonts. After that I was able to change fonts as usual.

Hope this helps anyone who's been frustrated by this glitch.

RE: Problem changing fonts in UG - solved

'mdcsolid' font!!! Now that's going back a ways. In fact, that font was NEVER supposed to have been 'released' to the public as it was created specifically for McDonnell Douglas based on one of their corporate fonts, which was copyrighted.

BTW, unless you're running a very old version of NX, you really should be using the more modern TrueType fonts, particularly if you're looking for so-called 'solid' or filled fonts. The old UG fonts were not very good at providing a filled look while that's one the pro's for using TrueType fonts.

Just what I'm used to using. I'll look into the TT options. Din't know there were copyright issues involved. Thanks!

RE: Problem changing fonts in UG - solved

No one ever complained so we just it go, and besides, with McDonnell Douglas no longer being its own company (but I am getting my 'MDC' pension every month even though it's technically coming from Boeing) I doubt anyone will ever say anything winky smile
