Adding on to / Thickening - Misaligned Concrete Foundation Wall

Adding on to / Thickening - Misaligned Concrete Foundation Wall

Adding on to / Thickening - Misaligned Concrete Foundation Wall

(OP)
Is there a good way to increase the thickness of an existing concrete wall or help ensure the new concrete will not spall off?
In this case there is an existing foundation wall that was poured out of square and now the brick veneer will overhang the wall 1-5/8" to 3-1/2". The owner would like them to add on to the foundation wall by pouring new concrete.
I am worried that something like 1-5/8" would spall off and does not provide much cover if reinforcement was added. My thoughts are - Roughen the existing surface and install some headed studs that are epoxied into the existing wall and extend to within 1" of the new exterior face (in order to help grab hold of the new concrete).
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I've been looking for an opportunity to use these: Link. I'd check with the manufacturer regarding the suitability of the system for an extensive repair like this.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

Is hydroblasting to get an exposed aggregate surface viable for your project? Otherwise pinning the layers using either powder actuated fasteners or KootK's screwed pins may be the best option. Probably size and space the pins to provide sufficient support assuming the entire section delaminates.

Sika makes products that work well for thin applications on vertical surfaces. I've used it before for large area repairs on a wall and it does appear to work fairly well.

Thanks for the replies, both appear to be good ideas.

WWF w/ your idea of studs to hold it in place sounds good

It's used a lot for remediation in latin america, never seen anything detailed like this in the US though.
