The CISC Handbook does not include 12" and 15" (310 mm and 80 mm)deep channels in the Mr tables. I want to find the Mr at Lu= 4 m. Is there a table around that does give the Mr for laterally unsupported steel channels of this depth, in accordance with the Canadian steel code CSA S16? Don't know why it was not included, since I understand these sizes are available in Canada (although probably imported from the U.S.).

RE: Mr of 15" deep steel channel laterally unsupported

Hello ajk1, by the time you find that value in a table somewhere you can calculate with the equations/procedures found in CSA S16. I don't have my handbook here in front of me, but I believe clause 13.6 (there abouts) is what you're looking for.

RE: Mr of 15" deep steel channel laterally unsupported

My AISC table has charts. I can snap a pic if you share the size your interested in and the moment demand.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

RE: Mr of 15" deep steel channel laterally unsupported

CISC Handbook of Steel Construction,

Clause 13.6, I believe e) for single symmetric sections.
