LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

(OP)
Can you advice me some documents to study for April 2003 exams.  The documents that I can download by means of Internet.

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) has a number of self study programs for the exams for sale.  You can contact them through their website.

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

MGO,

I am taking the Structural I exam in April.  All I have found so far is one study guide from NCEES (www.ncees.org).  However, you cannot download it, you have to order it.  Gonna have to open up that wallet.

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

Which country? The Intitution of Structural Engineers exams are in April in the UK but they are also held in other countries as well. I think that past papers are available from the Institution try:

www.istructe.org

for contacts etc.

Before I took my Part 3 (Chartership) exam I gradually built up to doing a question in the timescale then asked experienced collegues for their opinions. Those who had been through the same process. If you are in a opsition to take such an exam then clearly you know what you are doing. However, if you need any specific advice, please post.

Good luck!

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

Hi AJUK/Busmann

I am from India. can i take the exam what you noted above. Your suggestion always appreciated.

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

Murali27,

I am pretty sure that you can sit the IStructE exam in India, they still take it in Hong Kong and several other countries. Your best bet is to ask the Institution and I'm sure the nice people there will be able to advise you.

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

Thank Q AJUK.

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

try "Civil Engineering Reference Maual for the PE Exam" by Lindeburg. It is about $150 but worth its weight in gold. It (and the practice exam put out by NCEES) was the only thing I studied and I passed last falls exam.

RE: LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER EXAMS

I would suggest preparing for the exam in a classroom setting if possible. When you have a forum of 20+ engineers of varying backgrounds and experience, some problems yield to easy analysis. Somebody in the class will come up with neat, quick solutions to difficult looking problems.

I did a problem on the board that was so easy looking that some guy said "Is that all there is to it?"
