thread560-378311: Dassault Systemes License Server (DSLS) in a virtual environment
The original thread is now closed, but if the author is still listening, we are also running to the same problem with DSLS-based licensing. Found your post when Googling our problem, and I feel your pain. It's nonsensical that Dassault cannot support a VM for their licensing. I've submitted a service request to their support to put additional weight (at least a little) on them. Why should I have to keep one physical server just for Dassualt when the rest of our servers are VMs?
I'll reply back if I hear back from Dassault on the SR.
Thanks for listening,
-G

...I don't expect you'll hear back anytime soon (if ever). What vendor did you submit the SR through?
It's been this way since the DSLS-based licensing was introduced and I've heard that Dassault has no plans to support VM's.

RE: Follow up to thread560-378311
"It is not possible to either run or install the (DSLS) Dassault Systemes License Server on a virtual machine and currently there are no plans to offer this in the future.
The main reason why Dassault Systemes does not support DSLS on virtual environments is the fact that it is easy to manage the computer-id and therefore break into the DS licensing mechanism. "
Notice: "No plans to offer this in the future." Wow, just wow.
Not sure I buy the argument about breaking into the licensing mechanism. Most vendors use Flex and I've never heard of it being an issue on Flex/VM. Sounds like they just don't want to change their licensing mechanism. Maybe they're just overly paranoid about piracy?
Thanks,
-G
