Applying a torque using MPC184 rigid elements

Applying a torque using MPC184 rigid elements

(OP)
Hey guys, currently struggling with an issue and was hoping you'd be able to help.
I'm trying to apply a torque to a shaft made of solid185 elements.
I've managed to do this using rigid beam mpc184 elements between the end face of the shaft and a 'master node'.
However as I am attempting to apply additional axial loading (coriolis forces, bending and compression) to the beam using a prestress, the rigid elements are causing additional stresses as they are by definition rigid.
Any ideas how to combat this? I thought about fitting the 'master node' on a cylindrical joint to allow it to displace axially but still provide the torque.

Many thanks

Tom
