I'm trying to find a minimum area requirement of office occupancy that need to be protected by automatic sprinkler system? can anyone direct me to a code regarding this? im reading IFC now but i cant find the requirements in Group B occupancy. for reference purposes only. thanks

RE: OFFICE BUILDING

Not in IFC, but in IBC or your local code.

RE: OFFICE BUILDING

For B ,,,Without more details base ibc and ifc only require it in

903.2.2 Group B ambulatory health care facilities. An automatic sprinkler system shall be installed throughout all fire areas containing a Group B ambulatory health care facility occupancy when either of the following conditions exists at any time: [F]
1. Four or more care recipients are incapable of self-preservation.
2. One or more care recipients who are incapable of self-preservation are located at other than the level of exit discharge serving such an occupancy.

There could be other factors that might require one

RE: OFFICE BUILDING

I'm assuming your using the 2012 IFC. A Group B occupancy doesn't require automatic sprinklers unless it is a high rise building, is more than 55 feet above the lowest level of fire department access and has an occupant load > 30 or it's an ambulatory care facility.
