Does anybody have some experience in the VFRICTION subroutine in Abaqus?

Does anybody have some experience in the VFRICTION subroutine in Abaqus?

Dear all,

I am starting to use VFRICTION subroutine in ABAQUS. But the manual examples are very simple.

To start, I would like to implement the friction law that already exist in ABAQUS(penalty e.g.) to see how this subroutine works.

I do come across the ABAQUS Technical notes about subroutine FRIC in standard which explained the implementation in detail. I wonder if someone happen to know whether similar technical notes exist for VFRICTION in explicit or have experience working on VFRICTION before?

Any help will be very appreciated.

Have you seen the example in the Verification Manual?

Yes, I did check the manual.
I would image the results from subroutine and CAE are identical. But those examples have some difference even for those simple tests. I wonder if you have coding experience to obtain the CAE result by VFRICION subroutine?

RE: Does anybody have some experience in the VFRICTION subroutine in Abaqus?

Have you ever written a FORTRAN subroutine that works with Abaqus?

If the answer is no, then you may want to start with a simple subroutine for a single element model in the simplest possible set-up (linear/static implicit analysis). DISP may be a good place to start. Once you get comfortable, try VDISP with an appropriate single element model.

If that is not the case, then what is so special about VFRICTION?
