NX9 - SHADING

NX9 - SHADING

(OP)
Is it possible to use different types of shading inside one assembly file?

My problem is the GM Ergo person. If I shade with edges showing, the ergo person has a billion tiny lines throughout the body. If I shade without edges showing, the work envelop boxes are hard to see, as well as the tooling and product is hard to see clearly. Is it possible to shade one component with edges showing and another with out the edges showing?

RE: NX9 - SHADING

Were you able to figure anything out for this issue?

For a certain manufacturing line, I make some assembly prints where I like to 'shade' the components being bolted onto the existing assembly in whatever state it is in during that step. The only thing I've been able to do is create two identical views at the exact same position. One view will be wireframe, and the other view will hide all components except the emphasized ones, and the view set to fully shade. Perhaps that'll get you by if you can manage that similarly. It's an obvious hack of a fix but it works until I figure out something better.

I'd much rather be able to pick the visual style 'by component' in a single view.

It sounds like we need two different things actually. I need everything shaded but I want some components with a different style of shading. One component to be shaded with edges showing and another component to be shaded without edges showing.

It sounds like what you need is only certain components to be shaded while others are wire frame? If this is what you need, there is a better way than using two views. When you use Edit Display to color bodies, it has a box you can check for "Partially Shaded". All of the components you want shaded, check that box on them. Anything you do not want shaded, make sure that box is unchecked. Then right click on the screen and go to rendering style, then click the bottom style called Partially shaded. All bodies that have the partially shaded box checked will become shaded and those without it will stay wire frame.

If I misunderstood what you were explaining, well, maybe someone else will find this info useful. lol
