V- Belts distension range
V- Belts distension range
(OP)
Hello everybody,
thanks in advance for all the hel I could get from this great community.
My question about V- Belts is:
how many milimmeters or inches can a V-Belt stretch before it fails, is there any literatura about that, I think it will depend on the cross section of the V-Belt and the lenght.
If I could have any table specially about the SPB and SPC V-Belts maybe there is a rule in porcentaje of the Belt lenght.
all this because I need to know ho much I need to leave for tensing the belts in motor - gearbox transmisións.
any experience, literature is worth to me thanks

RE: V- Belts distension range
In ancient times stretching a belt something like 1/8 inch per foot was a decent tightening spec. With modern fibers the belt would be much too tight. Motor bearings strongly object to excessive tension, as it can kill them.
Are you saying the motor and gearbox will be installed at a particular center-to-center distance, without inches of adjustability of the motor?
