Evaluating a distorted torispherical head

Evaluating a distorted torispherical head

Evaluating a distorted torispherical head

(OP)
Hello everyone,

I am using ASME VIII-2 and I would like your opinion about dealing with a distorted torispherical head (you can actually see a section of it bulging. I have looked at section 5 "design by analysis requirements".

I am convinced it is save to do a hydro test and then divide by 1.43 to set the MAWP. Is this a good aproach or does the ASME VIII clearly set limits to distortions?

I'd appreciate your opinions.

Cheers,

Alex

RE: Evaluating a distorted torispherical head

Have you met the tolerance in 4.4.4.4? If not, then you can use 4.14. What you are proposing is not an acceptable option among the options provided.

Thank you TGS4, I overlooked 4.4.4.4
