Hec-Ras_Stream Encroachment Analysis

Hec-Ras_Stream Encroachment Analysis

(OP)
Hello all,

I just joined community. It is good to be in touch with all engineers to exchange views, share experience and learn new techniques. Well currently,I am stuck with Stream Encroachment Analysis.

I have situation where there is no FEMA study available. Client (DEP) wants to find a floodway range. I tried various things in Hec-Ras by using Method 4 for stream encroachment to get the result water surface (WS) within 0.2 feet as required by DEP. Unfortunately I didn't succeeded. Going forward, I applied Method 5 - User specifies target water surface and max. change in energy and run the programme, and I got "Prof. Delta WS result" results within the range of 0.2 feet. Since DEP only accept Method 4, I plugged back the values of output from Method 5 - the Prof. Delta WS results o and d re-ran the program. I have attached the image of my input.

My questions is, Can I input negative values for Method 4?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Manan
