Ligament Efficiency For cutout in Conical section

Ligament Efficiency For cutout in Conical section

Ligament Efficiency For cutout in Conical section

(OP)
Hello.....
How to calculate ligament efficiency of cutout on conical section?
As per ASME sec VIII Div I, UG 53 we can find ligament efficiency for circular cutout on cylindrical shell but there has no any clauses to finding ligament efficiency of cut out in conical section.
what will be the least requirement.(Criteria for acceptance)
here i am mentioning some data for reference.& Attaching sketch with cutout dimension in conical section

Conical Section
bottom dia: 1000 mm
Top dia: 1050 mm
Height: 1220 mm
6 nozzle at elevation 567 mm among them 4 no’s of 14 inch dia nozzle are at 90° apart and other 2 no’s of 10” Dia nozzle are at 45° & 225°.

RE: Ligament Efficiency For cutout in Conical section

It is my personal opinion that such an arrangement does not satisfy the geometric requirements of UG-53 - due to the fact that the holes are not circular and your holes are not in a cylindrical shell.

Therefore, please see U-2(g).
