Boundary conditions / constraints in different coordinate systems

Boundary conditions / constraints in different coordinate systems

Boundary conditions / constraints in different coordinate systems

(OP)
Hey everyone,

I am trying to find a solution to the following problem: I have three curved rods (parabolic shape) which should be joined at the top and bottom tips respectively. Each rod is in it's own plane and they intersect each other at an angle of 120° respectively. The connection between the rods should be like a pin-joint-mpc, but furthermore allow each rod only to rotate around the axis perpendicular to it's plane (so the two tips of each rod should be constrained s.t. they allow only for in plane movement of the rod).

I tried to pin join rod 2 & rod 3 to rod 1 (2 MPCs) and apply a BC in every local coordinate system s.t. only in-plane-rotation is allowed for each rod. That gives me the following error message:
Following attributes are applied to overlapping, intersecting, or adjoint regions in differing coordinate systems.
I tried to find a way to use connector elements to solve the problem, but couldn't find any that show this behavior.

Thus, my question: Is there a way to couple displacement DOFs and allow certain rotations (each in its own coordinate system) for nodes with different coordinate systems?

Thanks for the help!
