Earth bund design

Earth bund design

RE: Earth bund design

Might want to go 3:1 on your sloped sections

Need some freeboard over the 100 year flood elevation to avoid overtopping.

Need an impervious core section...

Rip-rap up and downstream on sloped sections, particularly considering icing. Tailwater rip-rap too.

Is there any spillway or weir section?

Mike McCann, PE, SE (WA)

RE: Earth bund design

Not near enough information provided.

What is the water source? What kind of soil do you have available to construct the embankment out of? What is the foundation material? Does anyone have regulatory authority over the embankment?

Mike Lambert

RE: Earth bund design

assume this is for a tank(s) leakage containment

you will need to analyze and/or provide the following:
slope stability
seepage analysis
foundation preparation
freeboard
low level drain and high level spillway
settlement
inflow volume
rainfall volume
embankment cracking
constructability and maintenance
