Begginer question about catia version
Begginer question about catia version
(OP)
Hi there,
I was watching a tutorial in youtube and I have realized that my "extrude" options are different from the one on the video.
What can I do to be able to choose the type of limits that I input in the "extrude window"?
Thanks.

RE: Begginer question about catia version
Which license are you running currently? Goto Tools/Options/General/Licensing to check. Also, check the Shareable Products tab.

Maybe you only have the Wireframe workbench and you might need GSD (Generative Shape Design) to get those extra options. Just a guess.

RE: Begginer question about catia version
Peterkim89 - there is a lot of licenses, which one should I be looking for?
drewmaw - I'm already in GSD, format. If you can see the photo that I've attached, you can see what I mean.
I want to extrude that profile to hit the both surfaces of the wing so I can create the spar.
Thanks
RE: Begginer question about catia version
I'm not 100% sure which licenses can achieve this or not. My job only requires me to explore a few ones. Our most basic license is "CAC+MCE", which provides us with "limits" and "up-to-element" features that you are looking for.
Which license are you currently on?

V5R14...really? Why aren't you on a newer release? Does a customer require R14? Are you using an illegal (cracked) version of CATIA?

RE: Begginer question about catia version
I saw that there is a student version for 115 USD. This price is ok? Should I download an illegal version and then delete it?
Thanks.
RE: Begginer question about catia version
This is the problem. For any kind of license, if you not pay the RLC (maintenance) you are stuck in what you paid last time... I know companies which are stuck in r16 because they cut the RLC..
Coming to your problem, it seems you have Win7 ? Then Eric is right, do an upgrade. Or, if you are student, better pay that small amount comparing with the full price and get an official educational license.

RE: Begginer question about catia version
Never use illegal software. Period.
Ok. I understand. You're on a student version with your university.
If you are a university student you can almost always get a discount (if not completely free) on software. Yes, Dassault sells a student version. I was a university student in 2010 and it was about $100 USD. That's a great price! And it's a great opportunity to learn CATIA since most students can't get experience with it.

Remember, you won't be able to share CATPart, CATProduct, CATDrawing files created in a student version with users at companies who have a regular license of CATIA. Dassault restricts this to prevent companies from farming out work to students who use CATIA for educational purposes.
Go to Tools > Options > Licensing tab and please tell what product you are using.
Now, back to your original question. Maybe the option for extruding to an element isn't available because you selected a vertex as the input (according to your screen grab). Try selecting a different input (or no input at all) and see if those "up to element" options are available.
