ATTACHMENT OF DATUM SYMBOL

ATTACHMENT OF DATUM SYMBOL

ATTACHMENT OF DATUM SYMBOL

(OP)
Working in NX9 and having issues with attaching a datum symbol to the feature control frame. I got it once and don't remember what I did (got to write these things down). Usually I use the appended text editor to create the feature control frame associated with the dimension but after using the feature control frame option I find it much more user friendly, accept in this case.
Any thoughts on this issue. see attached file of the results when selecting the top or bottom or middle of the frame.

RE: ATTACHMENT OF DATUM SYMBOL

You may have a carriage return on the end of your GD&T text when appended your Feature Control Frame to your dimension. Go into your append text, go to the end of your GD&T feature control frame text and hit delete. This will blow away that extra space. Just to give you a heads up, if you are using PMI and typing the GD&T feature control frame in this way, it is a bad practice. The other programs will not recognize the feature control frame. It is better to attach the feature control frame using the feature control frame command.

RE: ATTACHMENT OF DATUM SYMBOL

I'm using NX9 and whether my FCF is Appended Text or an actual FCF (using Insert -> Annotation -> FCF), I can attach a Datum Feature Symbol to it. Like Shane suggested above, I prefer to use a true FCF versus Appended Text.
