Is the a way thru journaling to do this:

Search for the atribute "ATTRIXPTO" on the part/assbly selected if it not exist he creates it and return a dialog to inset the value. if it exists it returns the same dialog but containing the value on it (i can edit it if i want or cancel if i dont want to do nothing.

This link has some code that is very similar to what you are asking for. You will need to modify the attribute that it uses and it operates on the work part (rather than the selected part), but it does display a form with the attribute value for you to modify if desired.
