ABSA CRN registration for 4130 fittings (B31.3 unlisted material)

ABSA CRN registration for 4130 fittings (B31.3 unlisted material)

ABSA CRN registration for 4130 fittings (B31.3 unlisted material)

(OP)
4130 low alloy steel is not a listed material in ASME B31.3. B31.3 section K323.1.2 states: "An unlisted material may be used provided it conforms to a published specification covering chemistry, physical and mechanical properties, method and process of manufacture, heat treatment, and quality control, and otherwise meet the requirements of this Chapter." As far as I know, there are published specifications for 4130 that include chemical requirements, but not that include mechanical properties requirements. Many manufacturers in the oil and gas sector specify 4130 with 75 ksi minimum yield strength and 95 ksi minimum ultimate strength and have their own proprietary written specifications for it, but there doesn't seem to be a published specification (from ASTM, ASME, etc.) for this material. Can anyone suggest a published specification for 4130 with 75 ksi min yield and 95 ksi min ultimate?

Has anyone here tried to register a fitting with ABSA (the pressure equipment regulator in Alberta, Canada) that was made of 4130 material? If so, did you have success? If you used it above 100°F, were you able to justify the allowable stresses based on API TR 6MET or some other tables, or how did you do it?

jmec87, The Metals Black Book has the mechanical properties listed as 63.3 ksi and 97 ksi for Normalized AISI 4130.
