show some hidden lines and not others

(OP)
Hi All,

I am wanting to show the hidden lines of some components in an assembly. For instance, a screw that goes through 2 pillars and inbetween the pillars is nothing, so the line would be dotted through the pillars and solid between them. If I click ‘style’ and change hidden lines to dotted then it works (however there are thousands of other lines I don’t want) if I put them in a render set then the lines are all the same style (hidden lines just show the hidden lines within the screw).

Is there a way to just have a certain component to show its hidden lines or do I have to do that ‘view dependant edit’?
