printing with E-Drawings

(OP)
Recently I have had trouble printing anything from E-Drawings other than an A size. We use a HP laser-jet that will print a B size (tabloid), but I simply cannot get it to print a drawing without returning an error message. I have verified the page setup, printing parameters and even the drivers for the printer. Everything is as it should be. I have discussed this with other colleagues and they report problems doing this as well...particularly while trying to print larger format drawings (B thru E) on plotters.

Can anyone tell me if they have had similar problems and/or have found a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Shannon

RE: printing with E-Drawings

Are you are using 2003 E-drawings and is the service pack in sink with SolidWorks? I found that to be a problem in the past. I am using a HP DeskJet 1220C. I always use the printer button, not print thought the file menu, and make sure I have chosen "scale to fit". Then under properties / advanced I need to select the paper size.

Good luck and Happy New Year.

Good tips..I will have to check into the service pack issue. The interesting (and frustrating) thing is that I can print just fine through my B size capable Epson printer with all the same types of printing parameters. I have spoken to to SolidWorks corporate, who inform me that this issue is typically about a buffer over-run with HP printers (lasers in particular) and that print spooling through Windows is often an effective fix.

With that said, I suppose the bottom line is STILL that the program has yet to be fine-tuned, and that every man is for himself to find an effective solution to the problem.

Thanks for the reply.
