Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

(OP)
Good-morning,

Thought I would check on here before contacting Hilti, but I am having an issue with the Profis software where it does not allow me to change embedment depth. Specifically, I am using ASD so that I can spec out an HCA mechanical anchor because that is what we have been using. It does not allow me to change embedment depth, the user selected embedment depth is just grayed out, and optimized embedment depth is selected at 4.5 in. This is failing at UC of 116%. My foundation is 1.5' thick so all I want to do is go a little deeper and make this work. This has happened in the past and I don't know how I fixed it. This is frustrating enough that I may switch to Powers, but we already have HCA's on site, and I know I can make it work..

RE: Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

I believe for mechanical anchors it is a set embed depth. I think you choose a different anchor (I.E. length) on the left side.

RE: Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

For what it's worth, 4.5" is the maximum embedment in their published tables for that anchor. Maybe they haven't tested anything deeper.

Jayrod thank you for the input but I don't believe this to be correct, I have gone much deeper than 4.5in with a 3/4" HCA. Further, I have this problem with every anchor in the software not just mechanical HCA's. I cannot specify my embedment depth at all. I just updated the software and still the same problem. Going to open it on a coworkers desk and see if this is an isolated incident.

Interesting note, when I updated the software Hilti posed a question of added features, gave you a fixed sum of money ($1000) and asked how much you would invest into each future. I put the majority of my money into "Anchor plate design including stiffeners". Now that would be nice!

sbisteel, thanks I was just pulling up the tables as you replied. I think I was think of another anchor (HDA) that I have gone deeper with. Still, does not make sense that I cannot change ANY anchors embedment depth. I am not crazy because I have definitely done this before. I attached a screen shot.

RE: Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

I just double checked my profis. I change the embedment depth of the mechanical anchors via choosing a different anchor length out of the drop down menu. I'm running version 2.6.3

RE: Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

Jayrod, I only have that option on Kwik bolts. I too am running 2.6.3 Checked with my coworker and he was surprised he could not change embedment depth as well, maybe this is part of the new updates. I don't know, but to Powers I go!

RE: Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

From Captain Obvious:
Have you called Hilti? They're actually pretty responsive. There's a chance it's a problem on their end.

RE: Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

There should be a box saying "select optimized embedment depth". Make sure it's unchecked and you can change embedment depth

canwesteng,

This is exactly what I have been saying, it is grayed out so I can not unselect it. See attachment a few posts above. I just spec'd out some powers, I will contact hilti some other time if this persists the next time I need to spec out anchor bolts.

RE: Hilti Profis Embedment Depth

Hilti sent an update for my version of Profis. The update would not install and I was left with no useable version. Weeks of back and forth emails did not solve it. I am now using Simpson's anchor program and it works fine.
