Design Code for Mine site structures in Canada

Design Code for Mine site structures in Canada

(OP)
Hi All,

just basic question. I tried searching but was unable to find a previous thread of the same. If someone knows one, please direct me to it, as we dont need a second thread of the same.

I guess my question is, What design code is used for structural elements on a minesite? I currently do structural for the building industry in Canada, which is obviously governed by the NBCC 2010/2015. WE dont do work for minesites very often, but have had a couple inquiries recently. My question is, what design code will dictate for that stuff? obviously a building on site will be governed by NBCC. but what about other structures that dont really fall under the blanket of the NBCC. off the top of my head, say a structural frame used as a support for loading rail cars, or the design of a conveyor system etc. I am just unsure of how to correctly factor the expected loads for those types of structures.

any input at all would be greatly appreciated. If you need clarification, please ask.

RE: Design Code for Mine site structures in Canada

Use NBC load factors.
