Referring from ASME B31.3 ; I believe, impact test requirement requirement is decided from Minimum Design Metal Temperature (Fig. 323.2.2B)can you all help how will I find this stress ratio value and find out how will I decide whether impact test is required to perform or not; if procedure is wrong please explain how will I decide the requirement of impact testing, pls exolain in detail.

Find your materials in Table A-1, you are exempt from impact testing if your MDMT is warmer than the Min Temp listed unless the material spec requires it. If not, you must impact test. Read Note 6 in Table A-1.

If the Min Temp listed is a letter (A, B, C, D), go to Para 323.2.2b and Fig 323.2.2a. The way to determine your stress ratio is in the general notes of Fig 323.2.2b.

The design engineer or Owner determines the MDMT. Then see loilfan.
