Rotary phase converter

(OP)
I have read about 3 phase rotary converters on the net
and I am thinking of putting one into use in a small
wood working shop at my house.  The design is simple
and I was wondering if any one has done this before with
some success or failure. Please comment with any suggestions
or warnings!

RE: Rotary phase converter

You might want to contact John Rademacher. He represents Convert-a-Phase Inc. He can supply a list of customers.

Rotary phase adders are a significant improvement over static phase adders.

RE: Rotary phase converter

Do a search at this site.  It has been extensively discussed here in the last two years.

RE: Rotary phase converter

Searching here on "3ph motor on 1ph" turned up seven threads.

RE: Rotary phase converter

Suggestion: There are some differences in the rotary motor converters. Probably, the most important is the efficiency. Others are the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR). Sometimes, MTBF and MTTR are difficult to obtain from manufacturers (as competition sensitive information) or manufacturers statistically estimate them based on the feedback from customers.
