Shell and tube heat exchanger temperatures
Shell and tube heat exchanger temperatures
(OP)
I need a shell and tube heat exchanger to heat a liquid from 170 F to 200 F. I have steam at 120 psig available on the shell side. What do I use as my Delta T? Assuming 5% moisture, I am down to about 30 psig steam equilibrium. That gives me a LMTD of about 30 F. Am I on the right track, or do I need to use the steam temperature at 120 psig?

RE: Shell and tube heat exchanger temperatures
For steam at 120 psig, use the corresponding saturation temperature (350 degF).
