Modelling buckling with abaqus

Modelling buckling with abaqus

Dear friends,
I want to model a taper column with circular cross section in Abaqus software and consider its buckling under self-weight, top point load and finally in existence of lateral load (static and dynamic). the problem at this point is that my column's modulus of elasticity varies linearly from bottom to the top of column.
is it possible to model this column and define a function for E(elastic modulus) in Abaqus? if so, how can I do that? I will greatly appreciate you if you can let me know how to model my column.

Thanks for your time,
Warm regards,
Mojtaba

RE: Modelling buckling with abaqus

Two possibilities: Make your material properties dependent of temperature or field variable.

An initial temperature with spatial variation through an analytical field can be assigned with in the load module.

Dear Mustaine3,
thank you so much.how can I do them?

RE: Modelling buckling with abaqus

I told you how and not gonna write you a tutorial.
This stuff is pretty simple, so you should learn these Abaqus basics.
