ASME B16.5 Pressure Ratings
ASME B16.5 Pressure Ratings
(OP)
Hello All,
A discussion with one my friends left me confused other day. I always assumed/studied the pressure units in ASME codes as bar(g).
For example when you check the table for a pressure rating on ASME B16.5 table, the value is indicated as 17,7 bar. As far as i know these are gauge values, not absolute.
Am i missing a point here?
Thanks for your kind answers.

RE: ASME B16.5 Pressure Ratings
"Pressure–temperature ratings are maximum allowable
working gage pressures in bar units at the temperatures in degrees Celsius... [my underline and bold]
The key word here being "gage" - or "guage" for us non americans - thus the ratings are barg.
Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.
RE: ASME B16.5 Pressure Ratings
I have searched the document with keyword "gauge", as you mentioned there was no match :)
Cheers.

Just as soon as you think you know they are assuming you understand, "somebody" starts slipping in vacuum tests and pressures.
