I-deas and NX 9.0

I-deas and NX 9.0

I-deas and NX 9.0

Might be a silly question but I’m going to ask anyway:

I haven’t received the file yet but is it possible to update a Siemens I-deas file in NX 9.0?

RE: I-deas and NX 9.0

Do you use teamcenter? The I-Deas file will it be a package file, parasolid, XPK, file model file or an I-Deas archive file? Do you have the Content Migration Manager for converting I-Deas data to NX in teamcenter?

Do you need part history? If not have them send you a XPK file. On their side is should be file interoperate and export a NX package file. A parasolid file will work well also.

Sdeters,
Unfortunately I don’t have Teamcenter, I hope to get there someday though

Ideally it would be nice to have model history but I think I can make all the updates I need using synch modeling if all I can get is a .stp file or parasolid

RE: I-deas and NX 9.0

We are in the process of migrating our I-deas data from I-deas 6.1m1 into NX8.03. The only real way to get part history is to use the Content Migration Manager tool. It does have a mode that works outside of Teamcenter per the documentation but I don't think it's recommended (called CMM-Solo). You could ask GTAC or your sales person about it and see what they say. Our experience so far though has been that the model history migrated from I-deas is mostly garbage so we've been migrating without. For example, a pattern in I-deas might migrate as a bunch of individual hole features sometimes and have no pattern modification ability.
