ST4 importing a STEP file

ST4 importing a STEP file

(OP)
Importing a step file of an assembly with a couple thousand parts takes a very long time. In the windows task manager it only seems to be using 12% of CPU. Is there any way to get it to use more of the processor to speed things up?

RE: ST4 importing a STEP file

If it's a multicore processor (and what isn't these days?) it is only going to use one core and what you see, I think, is the percent used of the whole processor. So, it's probably near max on that one core.

That makes sense. It's 4 cores / 8 threads. Windows task manager shows it split between multiple threads instead of maxing out a single one which was confusing me.
