Hi,
Is there any way to create points on the surface at the end or start of the curvature lines shown in the curve analysis option.

RE: Show Combs

I think you will have to illustrate this question. Or supply a NX example.

You what to create points on the curvature comb ?

Regards,
Tomas

hi Tomas,
I have attached a snap of a surface as an example. when we do curve analysis, combs are shown. (red lines perpendicular to surface). I want to create points at the highlighted position in the attached file. I mean, I want to create points on the surface which I created using the comb lines.

Isha

RE: Show Combs

You are aware that the "spikes" of the displayed comb is depending on the variable "Number of needles" which can be seen in the dialog in the picture ?
The comb is only a display of , in this case, 50 measurements along the selected curve and has nothing to do with the construction of the curve.

If you would like to create points on corresponding positions, Use the feature ""Point Set- Curve Points - spacing = Equal Parameters - Number of points = 50.

Tomas

yes I was aware of the number of needles option.
Thank u for one solution for my question.
But what if I want to create point at particular needle only and not on all?

RE: Show Combs

If you need point on particular percentage of curve:
Insert>Datum/Point>Point Set...
Subtype set to Curve percentage, select curve and set wanted percentage. To make a guess where spike is, double click on comb, and remember number of needles, then divide 100% with (number of needles-1), and it will give you A (in %) distance between two needles. That way needles will be on 1xA, 2xA, 3xA etc... so with little effort in calculating you can put point at particular needle.

EDIT: How is making a point at particular needle usful for you?

EDIT2: Which version of NX?

RE: Show Combs

Since the needles are placed by dividing the curve length using some algorithm,
- How do you know that you want exactly this needle?
Note that the extreme curvature value most probably will "occur" on a position which lacks a needle.
If you are looking for the peak value ( the smallest radii on this "turn"), there is an option to create points in the dialog you showed above.
If you want to create a point on a given position on a curve You have different options for this in the point constructor dialog, see attached image.
Note that you can after selecting the curve drag/ adjust the previewed point along the curve.

Regards,
Tomas
