S-Stamp question

S-Stamp question

S-Stamp question

(OP)
We make magnetic level instrumentation for storage tanks and pressure vessels and are wondering if S-stamp certification is possible.
1. After reading the Preamble, is it correct to say that our instruments are classified as boiler external piping?
2. From what I'm gathering, the technical side will be B31.1 and the jurisdiction side will be Section I. Can this be S-stamped?

Thank you

RE: S-Stamp question

Specific instrumentation type is not under the scope of the ASME S-Stamp.

RE: S-Stamp question

This doesn't mean we cant get it certified though.

RE: S-Stamp question

ASME does not certify brand.

Is level instrumentation BEP?

RE: S-Stamp question

If used on a section I, it's boiler Proper.
And yes it can be stamped if comply with all requisites of section I. Its a part.

RE: S-Stamp question

The Code (BPV I) provides certain design requirements for independent remote level indicators and use in PG 60.1.1.3. It does not provide provisions for stamping such a device. Yes, it is technically a part just like appurtenances, valves and fittings are parts. If the device is approved by the user, it is installed on the boiler and the boiler is stamped.

Again, ASME does not endorse any product line for use. I see this as a commercial request.
