Hardness test for small parts , like bolts, for the round parts

Hardness test for small parts , like bolts, for the round parts

(OP)
Hi All

I was wondering which test is better and if there are appropriate devices to measure the hardness on the bolts cylindrical part, since with the brinel test device that we have it's not possible, I was thinking of HV , but I am not sure, I wanted to sample the hardness on different parts, from flat to rounded , but the dimensions are sometimes small , at the order of 10 mm diameter

what do you suggest me

Thank you very much

RE: Hardness test for small parts , like bolts, for the round parts

Their are corrections for testing on a curved part, but they are approximate.
The larger the part, and the smaller the indention then the less trouble it causes.
But at the same time small indentions are more sensitive to surface finish and variations in properties.
Superficial Rockwell scales may be a good compromise.

The Brinell test can be used on the curved surfaces of smaller diameter parts, you just need to use a smaller force and a smaller indenter diameter. Alternatively, Vickers or Rockwell testing can be used. All three methods are used routinely for fasteners.

That's great price Cory , shall I ask you , is it a very expensive device with respect to other non ultra sonice ones ?

Maybe it was a wrong question ,but thank you

I think this one can easily capture also on the curvature
