Which is best for P/L valve - DHV bolted body ball valve verses Cameron T31 welded body ball valve?
(OP)
I have a client looking at bolted verses welded body valves for pipeline valve service. Specifically DHV . Cameron(T31?) and WKM manufacturers . Need a double block and bleed valve is a requirement.

On the other side, when using split body valves, a leak from body flanges can occur. Consequently, one must have a continued and vigorous monitoring of facilities. Repair is not so difficult but still requires testing of the valve after replacing seals.
In my humble opinion, the use of welded body valves will be limited to underground valves and difficult access facilties. Where it is easy to carry out checks it is more interesting to use split body.

Type of valve?
Pressure rating?
Buried?
Fluid?
Toxic?
Valve code?
Pipeline design code?
Will all have an impact on bolted or welded type.
For many pipeline valves, you would need to drain the pipeline to remove or repair any valves so the bolted vs welded issue can become more a preference than any strict technical issue
