Problem with shear

Problem with shear

(OP)
Hello everyone,

I'm doing a quite simple exercice in Abaqus but I'm not getting coherent results. I have a shell with an applied thickness into a structure.

This structure have a flexion force and when I check the strains in the upper and lower side of the shell they are OK but the strains in the E12 direction are not coherent at all. I made a comparation with the same model in Nastran and the results are OK. I have already set the material orientation.

What's happening here?

RE: Problem with shear

I made one shell element with a defined thickness in Abaqus. This shell is in the plane XY and it's charged in the Y axis. The shell's normal is the Z axis.

When I try to mesure the centroid's strain I get 0 (the E22 I mean). Is this a formulation problem of the element? Am I doing something wrong?
