Clarification on PFHT from code ASME sec VIII division 1

Clarification on PFHT from code ASME sec VIII division 1

Clarification on PFHT from code ASME sec VIII division 1

(OP)
Dear guys,
Given in UCS-79(d)(4) is a point which says that the reduction by cold forming from the as-rolled thickness is more than 10% at any location where the extreme fibre elongation is more than 5%
I have used a plate 14 thick of 516 grade 70 to roll it into a shell of 205 ID with elongation coming more than 5%. My question is, how do I find the reduction in thickness at the location where EFE is more than 5%? How can I say whether the above point is a yes or a no?

Also when the code says that for P-no 1 group number 1 and 2 material the EFE can be as great as 40% when none of the conditions exists.. My question is.. Does the code mean that if none of the following conditions exists (which are given in the code), then no PFHT is required even if EFE is till 40% for these materials?

No PFHT is required if none of the conditions exist (UCS-79(d)) even if EFE is 40%.
You can measure the thickness by UT thickness meter veru easily wherever you want, I could not undertsand your first question. You know the nominal thickness already, Nominal thickness minus measured thickness will give you how much reduction in thickness occured.
