Could someone please give the steps necessary to create a WAV file??
Thank you!

RE: how to create a WAV

Go to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESS, ENTERTANMENT, find Recorder or Sound Recorder...start that application.

If you have a sound card and a microphone, record as many WAV files as you wish.

chakorules,
Thanks! Now how do I create a WAV from a CD? Let's say I want just a portion on a certain CD that I want to send as a WAV.
Thanks again,
SH

Download one of these programs here for FREE:

You will not want to e-mail a WAV file. You'll want to convert your WAV format to MP3 after you have ripped it from the CD-ROM.

These software tools can help you convert to MP3 format too.

One 4 minute song from CD-ROM in WAV format will be about 100MB. Compress that WAV file to MP3 and you've got about a 3MB file once done with the same quality.

Good Luck.

chakorules,
Again, Thank you for the help! Much appreciated..

RE: how to create a WAV

Keep in mind that, if you use the Windows 9X "Sound Recorder" that comes with the OS as an optional multi-media application, then your wav file is limited to only 60 seconds by default.

If you want to record a wav of longer duration, then you may want to look for a 3rd party app like Steinberg "Wavelab."

Good Luck!
