NACE MR 0175/ ISO 15156 REQUIREMENT

NACE MR 0175/ ISO 15156 REQUIREMENT

(OP)
Hi Guys,
I'm currently working on installation of Fresh water generators and associated piping in ship or vessel's engine room and would like to get response or advise if NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156 is required in preparing the piping and valves materials take-off for the system.
From my understanding, I do not think NACE 0175 is required with regards to the nature of the service fluid which is sea water but I wouldn't mind your ideas or contributions.

Best regards

RE: NACE MR 0175/ ISO 15156 REQUIREMENT

ISO 15156 is for the petroleum and natural gas industries for fluid service containing hydrogen sulphide. Does the design documentation tell you that H2S will be present in the water at any time?

No. This is not mentioned in the design document.

RE: NACE MR 0175/ ISO 15156 REQUIREMENT

Could you shed some light on why you think fresh water is going to be sour?

RE: NACE MR 0175/ ISO 15156 REQUIREMENT

Someone must have cut and pasted an incorrect specification number as the NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156 is inappropriate for your application.

Thanks guys, I actually did not think ISO 15156 was a requirement for the fresh/sea water service , I just needed confirmation.
