TEMA standard: tubesheet holes groove

TEMA standard: tubesheet holes groove

TEMA standard: tubesheet holes groove

(OP)
Dear all TEMA expert
In TEMA standard, section 5 part RB-7.24, is talking about tubesheet holes grooving for roller expand and hydraulic expand.
In this part number of grooves and its width and depth is considered. But I am looking for distance between grooves (when 2 grooves are used) and the distance from the face of the tubesheet (channel side) to the first groove. Is there any part in TEMA cover this issue? Is there any other standard talk about this part?
Second question is we want to reuse a tubesheet in our plant. If the grooves are not OK can we re-grooving inside the tubesheet holes in further distance from the face of tubesheet (channel side)?

RE: TEMA standard: tubesheet holes groove

I'll speak to your second issues, re-tubing.
You should have a mock-up made where you make the original tubesheet, install tubes, remove them and then install new tubes.
This will give you quantitative information as if the damaged grooves are suitable or not.
IMO the grooves are worthless. They might help if the tubes are much softer than the tubesheet. You would be better off with a series of very small concentric serrations.
