How can I obtain cross-section forces and moments in ABAQUS?

How can I obtain cross-section forces and moments in ABAQUS?

How can I obtain cross-section forces and moments in ABAQUS?

(OP)
Dear all Friends,

Well to be quiet honest, I am trying to obtain the history output of cross-section forces (forces and bending moments) from a 3D-SHELL Model.

Anyone can give me some suggestion? What should I do to take out cross section forces?

Thanks in advance

RE: How can I obtain cross-section forces and moments in ABAQUS?

Check the following options with the manual and small test models:

1. *Section Print
2. Postprocessing: Free Body Cut -> CAE Manual 67. The Free Body toolset
3. Postprocessing: Cutting Plane with -> CAE Manual 80.2.2 Displaying a cut section and its resultant force and moment vectors

Dear Mustaine3,
As a matter of fact, my model is 3D-SHELL and I think I can not use Section Print because it worked only for 3D-CONTINUUME elements to extract SF and SM.

I studied those parts of manual, however I can not find a simple example which explained how to define section cut. In fact, when I used section cut and toggle on free body cut, I can see resultant forces and moments in the view port and it is similar to theory but the resultant forces and moments are in the specific step and I can not extract them during the time and my analysis has at least 1600 steps.

I know I can use free body cut but I do not know what method (2D elements, 3D elements, elements and nodes) and which elements and/or nodes I should select to define section cut. In addition, I do not understand the mechanism of summation point that is, I do not know which point I should define.

If it is necessary I can attach my simple model to test that with theory.

Actually I want to extract resultant forces and moments during time period.

I am looking to hear a positive response from you
thank you in advance.

Work yourself into the Free Body Cut options. If you have that, you can create a xy-plot with the FBC and export the data.

You can also check if the sum of SF for a specific element set or maybe NFORC for specific nodes would work. If yes, then scripting might allow to get the informations fast.
