Pipe line cover modeling on staad pro

Pipe line cover modeling on staad pro

Pipe line cover modeling on staad pro

(OP)
Hi all,
My question is how to model a cover for pipe line underground on staad pro. it's the first time to deal with this one, so if anyone has experience about please give me the advice.
The cover length is 1m and its width is . 0.645m the cover repeated along 126m
the depth of cover can be 0.05m. expected load is 10ton from fork lift.
The cover could be as a plate above grating
I attached the pic of the line that will be covered

RE: Pipe line cover modeling on staad pro

I'm not sure what that's a picture of.
But you don't need to STAAD to solve this. If any load is transferred to the pipe with only 2 inches of cover, it will fail. Whatever you put in there will need to span across the pipe in bending and shear and carry the load beyond the pipe invert.
You will need to either build up the cover, lower the pipe or armor (build a cap over the pipe) the length in question.

It looks like the concrete walls have a bearing ledge cast into them so you may want to look at some sort of grating (assuming the pipe can be exposed). However, I am not sure if you will get the capacity needed for forklift traffic. Or you could build a framework of steel square tube sections with diamond plate decking over the top.

I agree with Jed that you certainly don't need STAAD to analyze this, assuming I fully understand the problem. A cross section sketch would verify my understanding of the issue.

The cover is like this
The cover will be over the opening as in previous picture
