Compressed air installation

Compressed air installation

(OP)
Dear,

Can someone helps me to find/tell me where is the right procedure for the materiel selection in the ASME BPVC Section VIII of a compressed air receiver 400 litres/40 bar.

Regards

RE: Compressed air installation

7mayda, selection of materials for a given process is not within the scope of Sec VIII. Air receivers are commonly made of carbon steel, though.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

RE: Compressed air installation

7mayda, I don't have expertise in the subject, but usually from consideration of the process, desired life of the equipment, experience with similar services, and so on.

Regards,

Mike

RE: Compressed air installation

For 0.4m3 only at 40barg, why not use 300lb plain pipe ?

RE: Compressed air installation

See UG-16 (b)(4) the minimum thickness of shells and heads used in compressed air service, steam service, and water service,
made from materials listed in Table UCS-23, shall be 3/32 in. (2.5 mm) exclusive of any corrosion allowance.
