Controlled Permeability Formwork

Controlled Permeability Formwork

Controlled Permeability Formwork

(OP)
Is it true that concrete created by CPF (such as those by Zemdrain or Formtex) does not require further protection (eg. by Silane)? Has there been any documented research in this aspect?

Thanks. Season's greetings to all.

RE: Controlled Permeability Formwork

I am not aware of any research on the subject.
When you speak of protection, are you referring to surface treatment or near-surface treatment compounds that will reduce the rate of water, carbon dioxide, chloride etc diffusion ?
Formwork liners like Zemdrain have the potential to improve the surface density of concrete if used properly with suitable mixes.  Logically then, the rates of diffusion could be less.  Whether the diffusion rates are low enough to eliminate the surface treatments, probably depends on the acceptable limits on your project.
And of course then you need the research ...

RE: Controlled Permeability Formwork

Zemdrain CPF liners have been used on many marine projects and have proved to reduce chloride ingress considerable as well as reducing surface algal growth and the effects of salt crystallisation. for more details visit:-
ww.zemdrain.com or www.maxfrank.com

best regards
