Orient angles while rotating

Orient angles while rotating

Orient angles while rotating

(OP)
I'm trying to set some views of I part I don't own in TCE so that I can take ISO snapshots. So I go to orient and try combinations of 30, 60, etc until I get the right orientation. Excuse the word, but this is F^&%$&ing dumb. Its 2016, why can't NX9 show me the current angle/position as I dynamically rotate the model so that when I am close enough I can just round off the numbers? Is there such a thing that I don't know about (probably, please tell me). I've never had to do rotations like this on every god forsaken model, I would just simply set up the orientations and then replace view. However The admins here have only created 1 iso and 1 trimetric view. 30 years of using 3D software and they don't have the inkling that maybe it would be useful to add a few more orientations.

with great gratitude, Thanks!

RE: Orient angles while rotating

Try File- Utilities - Customer defaults.
Gateway- General- part- Add Dimetric Views

Then restart NX and again try RMB in the graphics - Replace the view

Is this as desired ?

Regards,
Tomas

RE: Orient angles while rotating

I have two suggestions that may help with your current dilemma.

  • View -> operation -> rotate (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+R)
    This will let you rotate the model about a particular axis by dragging a slider control.
  • View sets. These allow you to define an initial view and the system will generate the other desired views from it. For example, if you position the model for your desired "front" view, you can generate an isometric view off of that orientation. To do this, right click the model views node in the part navigator and choose "add view set". Orient the model to a convenient view (for example rotate the model around until it is in your desired "top" view). In the "base view" drop down, choose the view that you have set up - if you want the current view to be the new "top" view, choose "top". In the "add views" dialog, select any other views that you want to generate off of this new "top" view. Press OK, and the views will be generated and added to the model.

RE: Orient angles while rotating

We have a program file that takes a view that is displayed on your screen and makes an Iso of that view, then it saves the view to be used in drafting or the choice of the user. It rotates the part the correct angles to get a true isometric view.
