SECTION IX QW-404.14 Questions

(OP)
For GTAW machine welding, if root pass uses fusion welding without filler and fill pass with filler, per QW-404.14, since deletion or addition of filler metal is essential variable, should this procedure be classified as weld with filler? can we put wire feed speed 0 in the WPS or PQR?

No, it should be stated as such in both the WPS and PQR that the root pass is to be deposited without filler metal, and the fill and cover passes are to be deposited with filler metal. Then, list the welding parameters used for each.

There is usually a statement in a GTAW WPS and PQR to address that specific variable, that "filler metal shall be used." In your case, just state it as per above.

Additionally, there is usually a parameter table in the WPS that you could include in both the WPS and PQR that you could also state the filler metal's use and non-use.

RE: SECTION IX QW-404.14 Questions

You classify the weld in the WPS as root deposited autogenous (no filler metal added) and remaining passes with filler metal.
