Coil of tube / hose in XpressRoute

Coil of tube / hose in XpressRoute

Hi,

Wondering if there is a way to create a coil of tube (imagine a coiled up garden hose) using xpressroute? I know that I could probably create the hose I need without using xpressroute, but just wondering if there is a more convenient way.

Hello,

With ST8, you could create a helical curve in a part (step 1). Then place this in asm. Go to XpressRoute. Start a 3D sketch. Use Tools/Peers + '3D include' to "copy" the curve locally. Finally, use the 'tube' command to generate the garden hose. It won't work if you're looking for an elliptical shape for the front view of the helix.

NB: for an elliptical helix, I would look into wrapping a diagonal line onto a elliptical extruded surface (step 1). The rest would be the same.
