Non Combustible Attic

Non Combustible Attic

Non Combustible Attic

(OP)
I have a Noncombustible attic with a Mechanical Platform in a large Dentist Office. The mechanical platform is above the drop clg constructed of steel beams with a concrete deck and a steel peaked roof above it.

Now the FAU's are gas fired so we are going to protect above that platform with around 6 sprinklers. I am trying to find a section of the code as to how I need to calculate that small area.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: Non Combustible Attic

Which edtion of 13 are you in?

Why the sprinklers? What section of 13 are you looking at that requires them, or are they being installed to install??

They want it to be protected, but I agree with you.. It's only 6 sprinklers, I dont think I need to calc it but I might just to get the pipe sizes I want for that little area.

RE: Non Combustible Attic

What is you considered this equipment in a room? What density and spacing would you use there (maybe 0.15 and 130 spacing)? Could you apply the same design criteria to the mech platform and your 6'ish sprinklers?

I assume the sprinklers are on the underside of the roof deck, and not suspended in the air above the equipment?
