Body Flange and Tube Sheet distance

Body Flange and Tube Sheet distance

Body Flange and Tube Sheet distance

(OP)
Hi...
I am designing an AJL type R class exchanger.
I have two questions
1) When I enter body flange dimensions (this is a non-standard flange) with hub dia and length equal to zero, the software says wrong geometry.
2) There is always a visible gap between body flange and tube sheet and it varies as I vary the dimension in distance from from node in tube sheet data window.

Need suggestions on how to model non-standard body flange and what should be the correct number in distance from from node of tube sheet data window.

I am not very much familiar with heat exchanger design. please reply accordingly.

RE: Body Flange and Tube Sheet distance

Have you called the software vendor and asked questions ? What does the software manual say ?

What is the name and version of the software ?

Is this a full TEMA design ? Are there restrictions contained in TEMA ?

RE: Body Flange and Tube Sheet distance

Draw (sketch) the shape you are trying to fake the software into accepting.

If it is not a standard shape of flange and length of flange offset (pipe length between flange face and HX wall), why should you expect ANY proper standard software to accept the apparent error on your part?

Dear MJCronin and Racookpe1978,

I spoke to client regarding non-standard body flange and got clarification.

Thanks for your reply
